Princeton, Indiana is named in honor of William Prince, an Irish immigrant who settled in the area in the late 1700s. Princeton’s first post office was established in the early 1800s and the city’s first newspaper was published in 1846. The Evansville and Terre Haute Railroad line was built through Princeton in 1852 and in 1875 the Princeton Depot was constructed, bringing much growth and prosperity to the Indiana city.

There are several things to see and do around the City of Princeton. The city is home to several community parks including Lafayette Park and South Side Park. These parks feature walking trails, ponds, playground equipment and more. The city is also home to several historical landmarks such as the Gibson County Courthouse. This historic landmark was constructed in 1884 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Individuals living in Princeton should install both heating and cooling units in their homes. The months of winter in the city are usually cold and wet. Daytime temperature highs vary from the mid-30s to low-40s on average and will dip well below freezing at night. An efficient heating system will help keep residents warm and dry during the winter season. The months of June, July and August are usually mild in comparison with other parts of the country. However, the city is not immune to heat waves. Individuals should take precaution and install cooling systems in their homes for when temperatures rise.
