About Washington, IN - Happy to be your hometown Plumbing Contractor!

Located in Daviess County, Washington is western Indiana city with a population of about 11,000 people. Washington currently serves as the county seat of Daviess County.

The City of Washington, Indiana was platted in 1815 and is named after Washington Township. In 1857, the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad constructed a rail line through the city. Washington became a major railroad depot by 1889 and in 1893 the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad took over the line.

The City of Washington has strived to provide its citizens excellent quality of life by providing residents excellent amenities and benefits. The city is home to and located near several entertainment venues including the Kerasotes Indiana Theater, Putters Bay, Gasthof Amish Village and Dillon Amish Tours. There are also several historical landmarks located throughout Washington including the Daviess County Courthouse, Magnus J. Carnahan House and the Washington Commercial Historic District.

Washington is located in a climate characterized by cold winters and mild summers. Daytime temperature highs throughout the months of December, January and February range from the mid-30s to low-40s on average. 

The summer season in Washington is mild in comparison with other parts of the country. Daytime temperature highs average in the mid-80s during June, July and August and will dip into the 50s and 60s at night. Although weather tends to be pleasant and mild during the summer season, Washington is not immune to heat waves. It is wise for residents of Washington to invest in central air conditioning units.
