Located in Daviess County, Washington is western Indiana city with a population of about 11,000 people. Washington currently serves as the county seat of Daviess County.

The City of Washington, Indiana was platted in 1815 and is named after Washington Township. In 1857, the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad constructed a rail line through the city. Washington became a major railroad depot by 1889 and in 1893 the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad took over the line.

The City of Washington has strived to provide its citizens excellent quality of life by providing residents excellent amenities and benefits. The city is home to and located near several entertainment venues including the Kerasotes Indiana Theater, Putters Bay, Gasthof Amish Village and Dillon Amish Tours.
